Last Sunday my daughter turned EIGHT. She had a party with some friends on Saturday at an indoor fun park and then had another small one with family on Sunday. I wish sometimes that I could just pause time. It goes entirely too fast!

So a year ago my daughter wanted a gerbil for her birthday! You may remember me posting about it then. I didn’t want to get one but Dh said it was okay! I said okay as long as you take care of cleaning the cage. HA HA HA……..um I’ve changed it nearly every time! (You reading this babe?) So we started out with 2 gerbils and low and behold we had a murderer on our hands. Gerbil “Pops” murdered Gerbil “Tag” who we enjoyed the most. (Why does it always go that way?) So petsmart guarantee’s their gerbils for 14 days, this murder took place a couple of days before the deadline. So we took Pops back and Tags body for proof of the murder. They exchanged them for two new gerbils. So pictured up above is Spot, a year ago he had a spot on the top of his head but as he’s grown it went away but we still call him Spot or Spott rather! He had a little cage mate named “Tag the 2nd” but Tag he wasn’t doing so good from the start. I did some research on the internet and found out the gerbils are notorious for getting “wet tail disease”, well Tag the 2nd had it so I took him back to Petsmart where they treated him and tried to make him better. He didn’t make it! :( We were really in love with Spott so we decided to just have one gerbil. They say you have to get gerbils from the same cage or litter to have a chance of them not murdering each other and we didn’t want to take that chance again. So this little guy, he is not very friendly at all. He likes to bite so we don’t hold him but out of all the gerbils we had he was the most active and fun to watch. We throw in toilet paper rolls for him to chew on and he can be done with the whole thing in 5 minutes. He runs on his wheel as soon as the sun goes down until it comes up. He did escape once for about a week but hunger and thirst brought him back to his cage and we’ve since added a bunch of tunnels and another wheel for him so he doesn’t go crazy. All in all he’s not as bad as I thought. A perfect pet I’d say!
So happy birthday to Spott, not sure of his birthdate but he’s about a year old now!

Okay so he’s not really in trouble. I found him like this a few times recently. Usually there is too much crud in there to make room for him. I’m not sure what he likes about the closet. See all my favorite shoes…..slippers, running shoes, soccer shoes, basketball shoes, hahahahaha……I have a pair for everything!

He’s got a few less teeth in his old age, over the summer he had to get a bunch pulled out. But he still seems to enjoy a good rawhide bone!!!

Me and my dad at the top of Sarah’s slide. We had to sit down on our bumbs and slide down. It was really smooth from tons of people doing the same thing over the years. The kids had a blast going up and down, up and down. It was a little tricky getting back up but good thing my dad brought a rope to help tow people up if they couldn’t make it!
