My Little Graduate!

May 29th, 2008

Preschool graduation is always so fun!  The kids are always so cute!  It’s also a sad time too, leaving behind all the carefree preschool days.  Now it’s on to the big kid school where there are tests and harder subjects and not quite enough “arts and crafts projects”.   My little graduate here had a phenomenal year.  I was a bit worried about her being ready for Kindergarten as she has a summer birthday and is a bit younger than the rest of her class.  Well with not much help from me she learned how to read and her teacher told me tonight that she got to the highest reading level of all her class.  They say there will be NO WORRIES at all, she’ll do great in Kindergarten!  YAYAYAYAY!!!  It has been amazing to see her progress this past school year, she learned SO MUCH!  We certainly got lucky to get into such a great school but I’m sure she would have done just fine anyway!

My biggest soccer player!

May 28th, 2008

So my biggest soccer player has quite a few seasons under her belt and has improved leaps and bounds this past year when she was lucky enough to get in with a competitive coach who is teaching her all the footwork and skills at a young age.  Tonight in her last game this season she just played her guts out, it was very fun to watch.  She scored an awesome goal from pretty far out and wow just played with a lot of heart.

My Dh took these action shots while I coached her rec league team!  Here she is running hard!

My littlest soccer player

May 27th, 2008

So tonight was the last game for my youngest!  The season didn’t really go as I had planned.  She ended up being “too scared”, “too shy mom” to get in and run the field with her team.  I guess at this age they play bunch ball and it is a bit scary, I wouldn’t want to get in the middle of it either, haha!  I BRIBED her and BRIBED her to at least run the field behind the swarm of kids but true to herself she did not, even for a princess bike.  She did however learn to be a “defender” since they do not allow goalies at this age.  The more games she played the better she got and even started tangling it up in front of her goal.

My gorgeous cousin “M” graduated from Utah State earlier this month!  She hails from California, it’s been fun having her here for the last 4 years!  She’s going on to get her Master’s somewhere in California.  Good luck “M”, Congrats on your graduation and awesome grades! :)

This is my oldest child and she is equally as sweet as my youngest.  When she got out of school yesterday and saw my limp she was concerned and told me she would help me out by putting our dog in and out in and out, he can never decide where he wants to be.  And help me with whatever else!  Awwww, sweet kiddo’s I have!  The ankle is feeling better today, the swelling has moved so now my foot is fat too but I suppose that happens.  So today’s agenda, more icing and then stretches.  Gotta get this thing mobile!  Thanks for your kind comments yesterday!

Got Dandelions?

I love this sweet little girl!  Oh I LOVE LOVE her but I’m gonna come back to that in a minute!  Lately I’ve been playing A LOT of sports.  I play soccer 3x a week, volleyball 1x a week, and basketball 2x a week.   And I have been ABSOLUTELY Loving it!  Back in high school and  college my life pretty much revolved around sports.  I loved loved loved sports.  Then I had kids and sports for the most part took a backseat for quite a few years.  Last fall I was asked to play on a volleyball league and from there it blossomed into basketball and then into soccer.  The women I play with are absolutely fabulous and we’ve become quite good friends.  Friends are good.  I love friends.  I’ve been a hermit for far too long, haha!  So today in basketball I was ON FIRE, all my shots were falling life was good, we were about to win with the next basket and silly me goes and comes down on my friends foot.  So yup you guessed it, I sprained the H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS out of my ankle.  The same one I tore up in college.  And all I can think about is how soon til I can get back.  Of course my college coach put me on intensive physical therapy and had me on the court within a week.  Now that I’m a 30-something mom I’m torn between rest and how soon I can get back.  This is really bad timing too, I have a volleyball tournament next week AND a Futsal (soccer) tournament as well.  *sigh*  What to do?  What to do?  Anyway in my midst of feeling bad for myself (mostly when my foot was submerged in a bucket of ice water with the kind of raw down to the bone ache) I decided I needed to think about what I was grateful for.  I’m so grateful it is just my ankle.  I’ve torn my knee ligament and depending on which one you tear it can be 9 months out and surgery.  So I am SO GLAD it wasn’t my knee.  I’m grateful for a healthy body and awesome friends.  But I’m MOST grateful for my awesome family.  I take my youngest with me when I play in the mornings (pictured above) and she was a little upset that she had to leave early and didn’t get to finish playing with her friends but man she was just sooooo sweet.  She was so helpful and kept giving me kisses and when I was laying down with my foot elevated she came and snuggled me and asked me if that helped me feel better.  Aww, time for a tissue.  She is such a little stinker at times but I tell you she is just SO SWEET!!  And then my hubby, he ran out and got me an ace wrap because of course we couldn’t find one in the house and he got me a bucket of ice water and wrapped my foot too.  Family is the best I tell you!  They are always there when you need them most!  So thanks to my family, I’d be lost without you!

Think Pink

May 19th, 2008

Today I am joining the THINK PINK PHOTOGRAPHY FOUNDATION to Celebrate LIFE!

I am joining in honor of a new dear friend in my life. We found each other through sports of all things, she is an awesome soccer player and she puts up with my not so great skills. Unfortunately a couple of weeks ago she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at age 26. It has been shocking and difficult for her and her loved one’s but she is staying so positive and I have no doubts that she will come through to happiness on the flip side of this. So “D” this is for you and here’s to MANY MANY more soccer games in our future!
