Photographers….if you need help with posing check this out!

January 31st, 2008

A good friend of mine just gave me the privilege of proof reading a new book that she has coming out.  It’s all about posing families, posing kids, posing individuals, and even tips on working with kids and getting them to smile/cooperate.  I have been lucky enough to watch her in action before and she is nothing short of amazing!!

Anyway if you struggle with posing families, or how to get the most flattering poses for women or men you MUST buy this book, it will be money well spent.  Give her a call at   801.656.7063 or email her at julie@juliewilliamsphotography.com to pre order your book!

Getting desperate!!

My new iPod, yes the 1st one I’ve owned. I really think I like it! :)

And I’m sorry I don’t have anything more interesting. I haven’t been shooting much lately, it’s so cold and that just makes me so unmotivated. I need to break out of my funk soon though, I know!

Oh my she is growing up waaaaaaaay too fast!!!

Isn’t that smile sweet? Well don’t let it fool you!!! Haha, kidding! If I have to pick a difficult child she would be the one but she has improved leaps and bounds over the years. She is a good girl, great for her teachers, and only a little difficult for me. She is super super sweet, each morning she comes into snuggle me for a few minutes before we start our day. I LOVE this part of my morning. Then I get several hugs and kisses and “I Love you’s” throughout the day! Can a mom ask for more? Awwwwweeeee!!

(oh and btw, yes she is dressed, she just had on some dress up “ballet” clothes that was a halter top type, so don’t get on me too hard!) ;)

My Dh has wanted an old type Jeep for years. He finally found himself this CJ7 and since I helped fund half of it I guess that means it is half mine, hehe! I think I will wait til summertime when the top is off to have my fun!

I think my Dh is giddy with excitement, the kind of excitement I had when I got my first camera! So hopefully next in line is a brand new 5D. It’s only fair right?

The Birthday Girl

January 26th, 2008

2156-web.jpg

So here is the birthday girl opening a present. And yeah she always gets stuck with the Christmas wrapping paper but she never seems to mind! ;)

2168-web.jpg

Pausing for a quick snap. I still need to do an “official” 7 year birthday shoot!

2195-web.jpg

We decided to do friend parties every other year and this was an off year. She wanted to go bowling so we went as a family! I WON with a whopping score of 111, bwhahahaha!

2210-web.jpg

Then it was off to a soccer game. She has an excellent coach that is teaching them all kinds of footwork and skills that seem really complicated for their age, but by golly since that first practice 6-7 months ago you should see what these girls are doing and are capable of.

Give ‘em a couple more years to grow and they are gonna be unstoppable!

(500 cool points to anyone who knows what a Zino is?)

2231-web.jpg

After soccer she chose Chinese food for dinner (YUM!!) and a Turtle ice cream cake for her birthday cake! All in all I think she had a pretty good day!!! It’s still hard to believe she’s 7 already, time sure flies!

Gerbils and Birthdays

The Birthday Girl and “Pop”

“Tag”

So I officially have a 7 year old today, wow how time flies!! She wanted a Gerbil for her bday, I always say no, no, no, they are noisy, they are stinky, etc, etc, etc. So she asked Daddy and as you can see HE SAID YES!!!

So meet Pop and Tag, the latest two members of our family. They are actually pretty cute and since I told Daddy he was responsible for teaching her how to take care and clean up after them I feel pretty okay about having them!

So Happy Birthday to my little cutie! I really am soooooooooooo blessed to have her, she’s quite a kid!

Andy Rooney…….I’d say he was right on!!

January 24th, 2008

60 Minutes Correspondent Andy Rooney (CBS)

As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, “What are you thinking?” She doesn’t care what you think.
If a woman over 40 doesn’t want to watch the game, she doesn’t sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it’s usually more interesting.
Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won’t hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it.
Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it’s like to be unappreciated. Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40.
Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthright and honest. They’ll tell you right off that you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don’t ever have to wonder where you stand with her.
Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it’s not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year oldwaitress.
Ladies, I apologize.
For all those men who say, “Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?”, here’s an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it’s not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!
