Crazy Hair Day

June 9th, 2010

This year the girls had their crazy hair day/track & field day on the last day of school.  Luckily the weather cooperated for that day and it wasn’t too hot or too cold.  Crazy that another year has gone by and that I have a 4th grader and 2nd grader on my hands.  Life, please slow down!!!  They didn’t let me do the crazy ideas I had but this is what we came up with for the hair.

More soccer!

June 9th, 2010

I realized that I never put soccer pics of my other soccer player.  I didn’t take my camera hardly at all, it always seemed to be raining or snowing this season.  It was a fun season and the girls did really well.  Miss D finally made it to the 100 juggles club, her record is now 164.  I have some video footage I need to upload so you can see.  Some of these pics are from other parents who shared so THANK YOU!!!

Not looking so hot and right before being diagnosed with strep throat by Uncle Dr. J.

The Her-icanes!

And some more of the other rugrat….

The Volcano’s!

Thanks for a FUN spring season girls!

Spring Break er….Snow Break?

April 7th, 2010

So  Dh wanted to go visit Montello again while the girls had their spring break.  I agreed to do PART of spring break, so we went for 4 days.  I know it totally bumbs Dh out that I just do not enjoy it like he does.  I really wish I did, but so far it’s only partially my cup of tea.  One positive is that it totally makes me not take my comforts from home for granted.  A shower never feels so good when you’ve been in the cold and the mud and the smoke (from both the wood burning stove & all the cigarette smokers around).

We got there on Saturday and Preston had made up another container cabin for Bill, a guy from California who also bought land out there.  We sat and waited on the main highway for the delivery guy to bring the container on his big truck.  While we were waiting a big huge MASSIVE Great Pyrenees came and stuck his head in our window.  He put his big dog paws on the running board and asked for some love.

Which made our dog act like a sad little puppy…

Finally the container came and Bill got his container dropped on his property…

SUCCESS!!

The resident chihuahua has captured the girls heart.  Each time we’ve gone they love this little guy to pieces….his name, fittingly, is Peewee.

We met another family from California (The Lemke’s) while we were there as well.  A great family who have plans to move to Montello full time in a couple of years!

This trip was the coldest one yet, I think even colder than when we went in January.  The wind just blew & blew and that made it even worse.  I think I might fair better if it is HOT outside and I can at least throw a bucket of water over my head to wash my hair.  I have found I don’t do well when I cannot have a shower.  I am used to one a day if not two.  I’m not ready to go back anytime soon but maybe once good weather hits I’ll change my mind, haha!  Sorry babe!

Haute Chocolat Couture

February 22nd, 2010

So back awhile ago I did a photoshoot for Haute Chocolat Couture.  Part of the deal was to trade pics for outfits for my girls.  Oh my are they so adorable or what?  I wish it wasn’t freezing cold outside and my yard buried in snow.  I can’t wait for warm weather so we can go out and have a proper photoshoot!

Becky of Haute Chocolat Couture loves custom orders so if you have something you would like send her a note.  You can contact her through her etsy store at http://www.etsy.com/shop/hautechocolat

Land of the Lost

January 6th, 2010

So the first few days of the new year were spent out on the property in Nevada.  I’ll be truthful, I wasn’t that excited to go, being winter and all.  But I went to humor Dh and it wasn’t too bad.  When we first got there Dh had some things to do to the shipping container before we could move in our gear and start a fire so I pretty much froze then.  Once we got the fire going all was well in the warmth department.  I’m just gonna post a handful of pics from the trip here, I’m sure Dh will have a much more exciting commentary on his blog soon!

Obviously some work still to be done (and some cleaning, haha)

Part of the big circular “driveway”, I used it as a track to do laps.

I decided to go jogging and Drew wanted to join me.  I don’t think she’s ever really jogged just to jog before, we only went a little over a mile but she stuck with me every step of the way even though she got a crazy sideache and looked like she wanted to be done.  Hmm maybe we have another marathoner in the family (aunt N????)

We shot guns, we went to the local Cowboy Bar/Cafe for their “world famous” burgers…..which Dh loves and I think the beef is too thick to eat….but the chicken strips were good! ;)  We saw the tiny little school and visited the dump.  We hung out with some of the locals.  All in all for me it’s a great place to get away from life but I think I’d start to go crazy eventually, especially from not having a shower…..hopefully that will be installed soon!

(Yes I blurred it on purpose…that seems to be the thing to do these days! ;) )

Halloween!

November 8th, 2009

I told the girls this year they had to choose something out of their piles & piles of dress up clothes.  This is what they came up with.  A lady bug and a snow princess!  Not bad I say!

We lost one of the ends of the antenna so I stuck a spray painted cotton ball on there, oh so redneck!

Thank goodness the weather turned back to warm.  Earlier in the week we had snow and it was COLD!

The Rock wall

September 29th, 2009

YES She made it to the top and fast, rang the bell and bounced her way down!

This one started out with a smile and then it quickly turned to a frown.  Later she told me the red rope was pulling her up and it scared her.  Dang, that just makes it easier!
